Pink Dot Okinawa, an event which hopes to build support to create a society where LGBT and other sexual minorities can live comfortably, will be held on September 23 at Tenbusu Square in Makishi, Naha.
The Pink Dot Okinawa executive committee announced the decision on June 6th, stating, “We would like many individuals to come dressed in pink.” They are also seeking corporate sponsors for the event.
This is the 5th year of the event, and the organizers expressed plans to roll out a pink carpet, invite corporate representatives to declare their support of LGBT, and hold talk shows with guests, among other attractions. A beach party will be held at Naminoue Beach following the event on the 24th.
This year, representatives of corporations based in Okinawa Prefecture and 7 local celebrities have been designated as “Pink Dot Okinawa Ambassadors”, and will engage in public relations for the event.
